The MTR-046 is a chemical resistant IP67 level transmitter is designed to measure the distance or the level of the surface of water in a tank or process vessel and suitable for use with liquids and solids. It uses non-contact technology, which makes it ideal for installations that need to minimise maintenance costs. The display module is also removable allowing it to be used as either a fixed display or as a calibration module.

As the MTR-046 uses an industry standard 4-20mA signal, it is ideal for connecting to our range of 4-20mA controllers, a PLC or a Data Logging device.


MTR-046 Level Transmitter Application

The MTR-046 works by pulsing ultrasonic sounds waves to the surface of the liquid. The ultrasonic sounds waves are then reflected back to the transmitter from the surface of the liquid. The time taken for the transmitted ultrasonic sound waves to reverberate back to the transceiver are directly proportional to the distance of the liquid surface from the ultrasonic level transmitter.

Therefore, it can be used to accurately calculate the liquid level inside the tank.

The MTR-046 is a cost effective level transmitter, designed with minimal moving parts to allow for a long operational life.  The MTR-046 is a robust and reliable way of measuring the liquid level inside tanks and vessels.

The instrument is designed to be initially setup and calibrated to provide a long and active service.  The initial setup and calibration of the MTR-046 has been designed to be straightforward.

The MTR-046 Level transmitters have 4 modes for configuration and calibration:

  • The VL601 Configuration module that can be switched on and off.
  • Via Modbus RTU using a PC interface with USB/RS485 and Communication software.
  • Using HART by hand-held, or a HART modem that’s connected to a PC with s/w 010E105A.
  • Or by using the android smartphone app, which is only usable with the 4 wires version.
