High Speed Industrial Mixer
To compliment our range of electrochemical instrumentation and dosing pumps we have a range of high speed industrial mixers which are designed for liquid mixing and powder blending applications.
Designed for mixing liquid chemical reagents or for powder blending the TM Series improves contact time for reagents by improving chemical efficiency and reaction times for pH neutralisation as well as in other applications.
Suitable for use in dosing tanks, mixing effluent sumps, process vessels or storage tanks - the TM Series of high speed mixers are designed to be mounted on the tank with the shaft and propeller running to the optimal mixing point.
We custom manufacture all of our mixers at our Stafford premises, which means that if an application requires additional customisation, such as shaft lengths, additional propellers, or custom sizes, these can all be considered.
High Speed Industrial Mixer Installation
When installing a high speed industrial mixer there are a number of considerations to take into account. Firstly, never lift the mixer by the shaft. The weight of the motor compared to the shaft can cause the shaft to bend - which can cause further bending during operation.
The TM series of high speed mixers should be installed onto a bridge or tank support, and should be securely fastened to prevent any lateral movement, rocking or other movement.
The high speed mixers can run at between 750 RPM and 1450 RPM and should never be run dry or in air. Always ensure that the tank is completely full and it is recommend that at least 3/4 of the shaft be always immersed in the liquid. (Level control systems can be used to prevent dry running of high speed industrial mixers.)
It is not recommended that high speed mixers be installed into pumping tanks or sumps with varying levels, this is where a geared or slow sped mixer would be more appropriate.
For more information on the installation of high speed mixers please see our High Speed Mixer installation guide.
High Speed Industrial Mixer Applications
The TM Series are direct drive mixers where the shaft and marine style propeller are directly coupled to the motor to provide efficient mixing.
The direct drive and high ratio speed drives a marine style propeller which pushes the liquid down the tank. When installed correctly the mixers create a vortex which ensures that any powder is pushed through the liquid increasing the contact opportunity with the media.
For liquid mixing the contact opportunity is significantly increased, improving chemical efficiency in numerous applications including pH neutralisation, effluent treatment and water treatment applications.
High Speed Industrial Mixer Applications
High speed industrial mixers are predominantly used in process applications, water treatment and effluent treatment applications.
Due to the significant improvement in contact opportunity the high speed mixers excel in blending applicants and in applications where powder is mixed with water.
The high shear factor of a marine style propeller, connected to a high speed industrial mixer, means that they aren't suitable for applications affected by shearing (such as flocculant mixing) or in viscous solutions where the media tends to clear a space rather than create a vortex.
If you're unsure on whether a high speed industrial mixer or a slow speed geared industrial mixer is suitable for your application, then please don't hesitate to get in touch.
Chemically Resistant High Speed Industrial Mixer
The high speed industrial mixers are frequently used to blend chemicals in effluent treatment applications, including pH neutralisation. As such the chemicals that are used can include strong acids, alkalis's, or strong oxidising or reducing agents - depending upon the process.
We therefore offer all of our high speed industrial mixers with a chemically resistant PVC coating for use with chemicals which react with Stainless Steel.
We strongly recommend that if you have a chemical mixing application, you check that the chemicals being used are compatible with PVC. If not - please don't hesitate to get in touch.
