New Conductivity Cell

Conductivity Cell model PSE-01 for insertion into pipework.

After modifying our PSE-01 insertion Conductivity Cell (as featured in the Autumn 2014 Watermark) due to popular demand we have reverted to a redesign of the original conductivity cell with the shorter insertion length.

The Model PSE-01 Conductivity Cell is a small and compact stainless steel electrolytic conductivity cell ideal for monitoring solutions with very low conductivities directly in tanks, vessels, and large bore pipework.

The Model PSE-01 Conductivity measuring cell has a cell constant of K=0.1 allowing measuring ranges with AWE Instruments of 0 - 20μS and 0 - 20.0μS to be achieved.

The cells can be fitted with optional automatic temperature compensation.

Typical applications include anion, cation and mixed bed demin water monitoring. These demin plants are used to produce high quality demin water as used in the semi conductor and power generation industries.

Suction Lances - Technical Tips

Chemical dosing station with bunded area to contain 110% of the stored chemical reagent.

Many of our dosing pumps are supplied as simple dosing stations with a bunded area.

The bunded area is 110% of the chemical container contents, and is where the chemical drum stands into.

These dosing stations are ready assembled at our Stafford facility for easy site installation.

If using our dosing pump models HY-BL, AT-BL, AT-AM or AT-MT, then these pumps have a low level float switch input which stops the pump running dry on a low chemical level in the drum.

So to compliment this feature we are able to supply a suction lance assembly comprising of a rigid riser tube and a tapered rubber plug designed to fit into the top of a chemical container with a 50mm diameter filling port and provide a seal to help prevent the ingress of dirt into the chemical product, as well as prevent the chemical fumes from escaping into the atmosphere.

The bottom of the riser tube is fitted with a foot valve to help stop the pump from losing its prime while not in use, and a low level float switch to stop the dosing pump when the chemical container is empty.

We are delighted to say our Red Dosing Pumps are providing as popular as ever with many pumps supplied since the launch of the brand in 1995.

As pumping hazardous chemicals under pressure is dangerous, to protect personnel in the event of a chemical leak our red dosing pumps, either electronic or motor driven diaphragm pumps, are now available in polypropylene housings.

The polypropylene housings help to make the chemical dosing systems safer as being a double confinement system. The custom made polypropylene housing has a clear PVC viewing window, the dosing line is run inside a second braided and reinforced hose, so any leak in the primary tubing is contained, the polypropylene housing can be fitted with a sensor to alarm if liquid is detected inside the polypropylene housing.

The photograph shows a system for dosing the same chemical from two dosing tanks. There are 3 duty pumps dosing the chemical reagent to tanks with industrial mixers from the primary chemical container, and 3 assist pumps delivering to the same chemical tank, but from the secondary chemical container. This system provides an independent duty and assist dosing system. Each pump is fitted with an isolation valve, its own dosing line and injection fitting so it can be maintained without shutting the whole system down.

We offer a number of custom polypropylene enclosures for different applications.

For example - when dosing from a single chemical carboy or drum, we offer a simple stand with a bunded area to hold the chemical container, and an enclosure for the pump. This is fitted with a clear corrosion resistant front. The chemical dosing line is enclosed within a secondary reinforced PVC pipe to provide mechanical protection with the injection fitting located inside the housing ready for installation at your dosing point.

New Degassing Head Launched

Degassing head for use with our Red Dosing Pump range.

We have a new degassing head for use with our AT1, AT2, and AT3 red dosing pump series.

When using a dosing pump to draw a chemical reagent with a low vapour pressure (such as Sodium Hypochlorite, or Hydrogen Peroxide); when sucking the chemical from the drum up to the dosing pump, due to the low vapour, the gas is drawn out of the liquid in the suction tubing. This causes air (gas) locks in the dosing tube.

By using a degassing head, liquid is taken from the head at a lower level and the vapour at a higher level. The gas is then returned to the chemical drum below the liquid level, so it can re-dissolve into the chemical. Please note when using any degassing head the pump output is reduced to approximately 80% of the pumps rated output due to the liquid being taken off at a lower level in the pump head.

A simple timer controlled shot dose system is mounted with a polypropylene dosing station.

The adjustable timer allows the dosing pump to operate for a set period of time and with a known output, the precise amount of chemical can be delivered into the system.

This particular unit has a low level shutoff and alarm, so that the pump will not operate when a low level is present and user is alerted via an indicator light.

The bunded area is designed to hold all of the chemical should a leak in the container occur.
